Morphlabs is one of 10 gold members instrumental in making the Foundation operational to give enterprise users confidence in choosing OpenStack
Manhattan Beach, Calif.—September 19, 2012—Morphlabs, the leader in converged Dynamic Infrastructure Services for the enterprise, today joined with fellow founding members to announce the official launch of the OpenStack Foundation, marking a defining moment for the evolution of the open cloud ecosystem. The new independent home for OpenStack allows for deeper industry collaboration and industry standards, strengthening an already robust ecosystem and creating a framework for accelerated technology, adoption and community growth.
In April, Morphlabs announced that it is utilizing OpenStack to power its mCloud Helix converged infrastructure solution—the first and only all-SSD enterprise-grade OpenStack product on the market. The Morphlabs mCloud Helix is enabling service providers to build and brand OpenStack Clouds and denote the advanced technology and end-user benefits of OpenStack to prospective customers.
“Morphlabs has supported open source since our inception, and OpenStack closely aligns with our principles and vision of how cloud computing infrastructure should function,” said Morphlabs CEO Winston Damarillo. “It’s gratifying to see service providers’ continued adoption of the platform, and it echoes the tremendous response we’ve seen throughout the community.”
“Morphlabs is getting real traction with their OpenStack solution, expanding our service provider footprint across North America and Asia-Pacific with new deployments like MediaTemple, which has been immensely valuable for our community,” said Jonathan Bryce, OpenStack Foundation executive director. “The leadership team’s experience with open source foundations has also been extremely valuable to our formation process, and they will continue to influence the community with their contributions, open source experience, and feedback and requirements from real users.”
“As a leading telecommunications company, we are thrilled to offer Morphlabs’ best-of-breed cloud computing technology to our customers,” said Jesus Romero, head of Globe Business at Globe Telecom. “Distributing our solution as an OpenStack cloud sends a powerful message—it is a key differentiator for our customers seeking a managed offering with a scalable, open ecosystem.”
The launch of the OpenStack Foundation benefits both cloud consumers and providers, as the strength of the ecosystem coupled with the new governing body will provide for rapid, standardized growth. The Foundation will enable the OpenStack community to respond quickly and efficiently to changing market demands—giving providers and their customers consistent access to the most advanced cloud technologies.
