Private Cloud in a Box Webinar
Recap and Video

Submitted by Yoram Heller on November 16, 2012

What a week!  I meant to write this blog earlier, but I got enveloped by all of the action at Morphlabs.

On Tuesday, I had the privilege of sharing the (virtual) stage with our friends at Dell for an episode of The Briefing Room entitled “Private Cloud in a Box: Welcome to the Converged Future.”  Kamesh Pemmaraju, Senior Product Manager of Cloud Solutions at Dell, and I were joined by Shawn Rogers of EMA Research and Eric Kavanagh, CEO of the Bloor Group.
Eric kicked things off by giving a brief introduction on the state of the cloud. Kamesh followed by explaining Dell’s comprehensive point of view around bringing complete OpenStack solutions that address the needs of various customers and target markets.

I followed Kamesh and immediately dove into the architecture of the mCloud Helix.  I spent the majority of my time talking about the mCloud Helix’s unique system approach, specifically how integrating best-of-breed open source building blocks (like OpenStack) and Dell hyperscale hardware has allowed us to deliver a complete cloud (compute+storage, hardware+software) at an incredibly disruptive price point.

A lively Q&A session led by EMA analyst Shawn Rogers spanned the final 20 minutes of the Briefing Room.  The questions from the audience were so good we had to go 10 minutes over!
